MONROVIA, Ind. – A man from Monrovia, Indiana has considered pressing charges against the owner of two pit bulls who attacked and killed his pet mini horse.
Mac McCloud, who said he purchased the two mini horses two months ago for his granddaughter, found the dogs near his horse stall Sunday.
He said once he noticed the dogs were covered in blood, he became concerned.
Inside the stall, he found his horse Velvet bleeding with injuries to her stomach and leg. His other horse – Big Boy – was on the ground bleeding. He died before a vet arrived at the home.
Animal control was able to capture one of the dogs, but police believe the other is still on the loose.
"I’m frustrated because what if that was a child? And I said, you know, we're close to a school. It could have been just as easy a child as it could have been my horse,” said McCloud.
Monrovia police said the investigation is ongoing.
Indianapolis-based RTV6 reached out to the dogs' owner, but they did not answer.
