DEMOPOLIS, Ala. – The mother of a 9-year-old Alabama girl who took her own life is suing school officials who allegedly ignored the child's complaints about months of bullying.
The federal lawsuit was filed Thursday in Mobile by the mother and grandmother of McKenzie Adams.
The girl was a fourth-grader at U.S. Jones Elementary School in Demopolis when she killed herself in December 2018.
The suit claims administrators and a teacher ignored the girl's complaints about being bullied.
In one case, the suit says a teacher told the girl: “Tell it to the wall.”
A school system lawyer didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
