A mailman in Houston is accused of pepper-spraying three dogs while on duty.

The mailman, identified as 21-year-old John Brucewayne O'Veal, claims he saw the dogs' teeth and started spraying, even though the dogs were on the other side of the fence.

The dog's owner, Jose Cruz, told ABC 13 in Houston that the dogs couldn't open their eyes for three hours after. However, Cruz doesn't want the mailman to be fired or even charged, just to learn a lesson, ABC 13 reported.

"I think a little community service. SPCA, that's where we got Bella. We rescued her. It hurts what he did," Cruz told ABC 13.

O'Veal is facing three misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty, according to ABC 13.
