A physical altercation captured on cell phone video at Bay View (Wisc.) High School involving a student and teacher’s aide has resulted in the arrest of a school staff member Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 10:50 a.m. local time after a school staff member pushed a 14-year old student to the floor and held the student down, according to Milwaukee Police officials.

The staff member,  a 39-year old man, was arrested for physical abuse of a child, police said.

The student has since been transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Milwaukee Police are investigating and will be forwarding the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office.

Milwaukee  Public Schools issued a statement condemning the incident.

“MPS finds this incident deeply disturbing. As soon as the school administration was notified of the incident, the Milwaukee Police Department was contacted and the staff member was removed from the classroom. We are cooperating with MPD. This staff member – who is a paraprofessional (teacher aide) – faces disciplinary action, including termination,” said  Anthony Tagliavia, a spokesperson for MPS.
