"Setup for Amazon Alexa" is appearing at the top of app store charts, but it isn't the one Amazon Echo users will want to download.
According to 9to5mac.com, the fake app has climbed in the Top 100 downloaded apps. It asks users to supply an IP address, a device serial number and a name.
It's a scam — people attempting to set up new Amazon Echo devices want the Alexa app instead.
As of 3 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Apple and Amazon had not taken any action against the app, so beware it is still out there.
