NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police in National City are searching for several suspects they say robbed a business owner as she was closing.
Police say the robbery happened on the 3400 block of East Plaza Boulevard Tuesday.
The victim told police that she was confronted by two men while closing her business. One of the suspects was armed with a shotgun and demanded all of the cash from her purse.
"He put the shotgun to my throat," Genevieve said. "He said 'give me your money! give me your money'"
Genevieve asked 10News to use only her first name - still afraid of the men who came after her. She said there were two men - one wearing a red hoodie and the other wearing black.
There is a security camera in the alley, but it was too dark to pick up much of anything when the attack happened.
The armed robber took her phone and all the cash from her Christmas bonus - money she had received just moments earlier.
"He saw my necklace and ripped it right off my chest," she said, noting that he also ripped her bracelet off before shoving the shotgun into her stomach and demanding whatever else she had.
At that point, Genevieve thought she was going to die.
"I have three children," she said. "I was begging for my life right there."
The man with the shotgun grabbed her purse off the ground, then both suspects fled on foot down Plaza Boulevard.
A helicopter assisted in trying to find the men, but was unable to locate the suspects.
The money they took was what Genevieve planned to use for her family Christmas.
"It's going to be...no Christmas," she said. "But I'm still here.
