The Nov. 20 murder of a 14-year-old boy in San Marcos remains unsolved, and authorities Monday renewed their call for anyone with information to come forward.

Brandon Gonzalez was found lying on a sidewalk in the 3500 block of De Leone Road shortly before 11 p.m., sheriff's Lt. Kenneth Nelson said. The teen died at a hospital from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Nelson said investigators have little to go on, despite canvassing the neighborhood multiple times to talk to neighbors and scouring the teen's social media accounts for clues.
Detectives have not yet ruled out any motives and theorize the murder may be related to gang activity, according to Nelson.
"No piece of information is too small," he said. "If someone knows anything, even something they may have disregarded before, it could be the missing puzzle piece. No 14-year-old child should have to die like this."
The Sheriff's Department asked anyone with information on the case to call (858) 974-2321, or after-hours, at (858) 565-5200. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
Anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest is eligible for a $1,000 reward.
