ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) - A funeral mass was held Wednesday for the East County teenager killed in a head-on crash.
William Burton, 17, was a star athlete at Granite Hills High School.
Burton was riding in the back seat of a Jeep Wrangler on South Grade Rd. in Alpine last week when the driver crossed into oncoming traffic, CHP officers said. Burton was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the Jeep.

Burton and his friends were leaving a football team banquet at a the time of the crash.
Burton’s loved ones gathered at the Queen of Angels church to share their memories.
A celebration of life ceremony will take place Thursday at Shadow Mountain Church in El Cajon at 1:30 p.m.
