OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — Heavy rains and slick roads may have contributed to a fatal motorcycle crash in Oceanside.

A 22-year-old man riding a Yamaha motorcycle on northbound Interstate 5 just south of State Route 76 crashed just after 10 p.m. Friday, just as lightning, thunder, and heavy rain pounded the area, according to California Highway Patrol.

The man was transitioning from NB I-5 to the SR-76 off-ramp when he veered off the side of the road and up a dirt embankment. He then traveled back to the paved portion of the off-ramp where he was ejected from the motorcycle, CHP said.
