ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - Two more San Diego area shoppers forwarded pictures and video of worms found in salmon a day after a 10News report showed a worm found inside salmon bought at a Chula Vista Costco.

“It was not good.  I was like no thank you,” said Escondido resident Sara Poorshah. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, salmon the safest of all the seafoods’ but that was super gross.”

Poorshah said she sent 10News video her husband recorded of a worm inside salmon at a San Marcos Costco after seeing a 10News story the previous night about the woman in Chula Vista.

Poorshah told 10News she pointed the worm out to a Costco employee.

“[He] was really nonchalant, just like, ‘Yeah. No big deal,’” she recalled him saying. “‘If you cook it really well. That’s why it’s important to cook it really well.’”

A Lemon Grove man also sent video of a worm he said he found in some cod purchased at Costco.

10News did not get a response from Costco’s Corporate Headquarters regarding the worm found in San Marcos.  Costco declined to comment the previous day on the worm found in Chula Vista.

10News also contacted the California Department of Public Health and the San Diego County Health and Human Services Department.  Neither responded with new information.

Several on-line resources said worms and parasites are not unusual in fish. Most of those same websites said the worms are not a problem as long as the fish is frozen and cooked thoroughly. They added the biggest risks come from consuming raw fish.
