SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police have located a school bus stolen from Adventure Days Preschool in Tierrasanta.

The bus was found in the 1100 block of Benicia Street.

It wasn't clear how the bus ended up there. No arrests were immediately announced.

"It's a Christmas miracle.  What a blessing!" said the school's director La Teresa Oropeza.


San Diego Police said the 48-seat bus from discovered missing Tuesday morning at Adventure Days Preschool. A red bicycle were found near the bus's empty parking spot.

The stolen bus was used for field trips and transporting students for before and after school care for three Tierrasanta elementary schools. Since the bus was taken, teachers have been using their own vehicles to transport students.

On Thursday morning - after seeing a 10news story - Rudi Fillet and his wife called police about the school bus that had been parked near their home since Tuesday afternoon.

"Called my wife and told her to write down the license plate and it matched," said Fillet.

Hour later, a round of cheers from a group of elementary school students when they saw the bus pull up.

The bus was mostly undamaged, except for a dead battery and damaged ignition, after the thief hot-wired the bus.
