SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An SUV crashed into a house, sparking a house fire Sunday night in Mira Mesa.
San Diego police said the SUV hit other cars and then crashed into a garage in the 8700 block of Ferndale St. around 8:30 p.m. The car hit a gas line in the house, police said.
Thomas Logue said he heard a crash and ran outside. The driver had hit both of the cars in his driveway, and Logue said he watched as the driver backed into his neighbors home and quickly caught on fire.
"I had no time to process anything except, get the guy out of the car," said Logue.
He was able to pull the man out and says he held him down until authorities arrived.
Police said the driver of the car is under investigation for a possible DUI, but it is unknown what caused the driver to crash.
San Diego Fire spokesperson Monica Munoz said that three adults and two dogs are displaced from their home as a result of the fire.
The damage estimate is $75,000 to the home, and an additional $50,000 for the contents inside the house.
