SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego VA Medical Center is testing tablets to treat vets. It is part of a pilot program they hope to roll out in early 2018.
They have traditionally relied on point and shoot cameras. They manually upload photos of wounds and manually measure the length, width and depth.
They have been trying out tablets with cameras, 3D sensors and computer vision software to automatically upload photos and make more precise measurements. The data is instantly available for doctors and nurses.
Doctors believe it will save time, money and lives.
