SAN MARCOS -- The San Diego County Sheriff's Department released a composite sketch Tuesday of a man who attempted to grab a 13-year-old boy jogging in San Marcos two weeks ago.

The man tried to snatch the teen on a trail in the vicinity of Melrose Drive and San Elijo Road sometime between 2 and 3 p.m. on April 6, according to sheriff's Detective Scott Carter.

The suspect was described as a tall, heavyset black man with short dreadlocks with bleached tips and hair on the sides of his face. He was wearing a white T-shirt, camouflage shorts, white ankle socks and gray tennis shoes, and also had "gauge" earrings about half the size of a dime and a colored tattoo on his left forearm.

The suspect's vehicle was possibly a 2004 or newer white Chevrolet pickup truck with a white camper shell.

Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the suspect was asked to call Carter at 760- 510-5223.
