SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was found dead under what deputies are calling suspicious circumstances at a Vista apartment early Sunday morning.

Just before 4 a.m., deputies were called to the 100 block of Hill Drive after nearby residents reported seeing a “man down” inside an apartment.

Deputies found the man lying on the floor of the apartment unresponsive. The man was described as “seriously injured” with “visible injuries to his upper body.” No further details were given about the injuries.

Around the same time, deputies also responded to a crash nearby on Grapevine Road near Jonathan Street. A driver had hit two parked cars and a fence before his car stopped working.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department said 26-year old Sergio Orozco of Vista tried to run from deputies before they captured and arrested him in connection with murder.

The San Diego Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death of the victim in the apartment. He has not been identified.

Orozco is being held at Vista Detention Facility without bail.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
