SAN DIEGO – Police say a man was attacked from behind while walking in the East Village Wednesday morning.
According to San Diego police, a man was walking in the 800 block of G Street when he was struck from behind by a man on a bike sometime before 7:15 a.m.
The victim did not see the suspect and he was unsure about the instrument that was used in the attack, police said.
Paramedics responded to find the man bleeding from a head wound. He was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center. His condition was not confirmed.
This comes at a time when investigators are searching for a suspect wanted in a slew of brutal attacks on transients in the San Diego area between July 3-6 that left three men dead and a fourth gravely injured.
Anthony Alexander Padgett, 36, was arrested in connection with the attacks, but later released after SDPD officials said they did not have enough evidence to hold him.
