SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A driver was arrested after a road rage-related incident in downtown San Diego involving two off-duty law enforcement officers from out of state.
At about 12:30 a.m. Monday, San Diego police said a driver was reportedly driving erratically in the 300 block of K Street when he nearly hit a group of people crossing the street at 4th Avenue.
10News learned words were exchanged between the driver and the group before the car drove away.
As the group continued walking down K Street, the car circled back and stopped in the middle of the road near the group. Witnesses said the driver got out of his car and ran towards the group, punching a man later identified as an off-duty police officer from outside of California.
The group was able to hold the man down for responding San Diego police officers to arrest him.
Two people, both of them off-duty officers, were transported to UC San Diego Medical Center for injuries that required stitches.
No other injuries were reported.
Police did not disclose the identity of the man arrested in the incident.
