LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was suspended following allegations that he had sex on the Universal Studios lot and the encounter was captured by the deputy's open microphone.
It was unclear when the incident occurred.
"The deputy was immediately relieved of duty and an administrative investigation has been opened," according to a statement released by the department. "The deputy's peace officer's powers have been suspended and the proper administrative action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation."
Audio of the incident was posted on TMZ's website on Tuesday. A department dispatcher can be heard telling the deputy his microphone is open.
It wasn't clear if the alleged incident took place inside the deputy's patrol vehicle, but TMZ reported it happened near Universal's Bates Motel, made famous in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic, "Psycho."
The name of the deputy was not disclosed.
