SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was hospitalized Tuesday after being struck by a car in a busy Mira Mesa intersection.
The collision happened shortly after 5 a.m. at the intersection of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Black Mountain Road, according to San Diego police.
10News learned the 55-year-old woman was in the crosswalk but walking against a light when a red sedan traveling between 50-60 mph hit her. The speed limit in the area is 40 mph.
The woman was unconscious when paramedics arrived. She was rushed to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
Police said the driver of the red sedan stopped and remained at the scene for questioning.
The crash forced the closure of the intersection in all directions, with officers on hand to divert vehicles away from the crash scene.
Lanes were reopened at around 7:45 a.m.
