Woman killed in Southcrest shooting identified

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 19-year-old woman shot to death at a park in San Diego's Southcrest neighborhood over the weekend was identified by authorities.

San Diego police said Leah Michelle Posey was fatally shot just after 12 a.m. on Feb. 8, at Southcrest Community Park on 4149 Newtown Ave. A 16-year-old boy was also injured in the gunfire.

According to police, details on what led up to the shooting remain under investigation by the department’s Homicide Unit.

Police said that the shooting “does not appear to be a random act of violence” and detectives are combing the scene for additional evidence and interviewing potential witnesses.

Two Hispanic males in their 20s wearing dark clothing were seen in the area following the gunfire, according to police, but other information was released.
