NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) – Several National City residents woke up Wednesday morning to find their vehicles vandalized by someone who used some type of acid or other unknown chemical.

Residents showed 10News the four cars that were damaged in the 500 block of E. Division Street, and they believe the actions were carried out overnight.

One resident said the vandalism could possibly be retaliation for a crash that damaged multiple vehicles in June.

"There was somebody that hit my car back in June. It was a drunk driver; it hit my car and it bounced back and it hit my neighbor's car,” the resident said.

The resident went on to say that a neighbor tracked down the driver and police arrested him at a nearby gas station.

"I'm not sure if that was the person that came back and did a revenge thing or what …,” the resident told 10News.

"It's so frustrating. I'm taking time out of my job right now and I have to be at work,” the resident said. "My neighbors told me my car was vandalized, and I went out and looked at it and I noticed it was two of their cars and another car and mine."

National City police are investigating the vandalism and did not offer any further details.
