CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — A truck carrying gravel lost its haul on Interstate 805, leaving the roadway covered in rocks and traffic at a crawl.
The truck reportedly dropped gravel on northbound I-805 near Telegraph Canyon Rd. at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, according to California Highway Patrol. It's unclear why the truck released its haul.
Rocks could be seen covering the interstate, as vehicles slowed to a crawl as not to kick up the loose gravel.
Caltrans workers were called in to sweep the lanes for the rocks. As of 12:50 p.m., northbound I-805 at H St. was closed to traffic over the incident.
The freeway reopened at 3 p.m., Caltrans tweeted.
