SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Police Department is looking for the person or people responsible for breaking into a condo complex on the 1700 block of Thomas Avenue.
The building was being fumigated at the time, and the tent was slashed.
Police say the theft happened Sunday night into Monday morning when the company discovered the break-in. The fumigation process was in the final stages. The building was airing out, and the windows were left open as part of the process.
“They took laptops, Amazon devices, change, a bunch of little random stuff,” said McKenzie Hewitt, one of the residents of the unit the thieves were able to access. Hewitt says they tried the neighboring units but could only get into theirs.
“Whoever did it, knew what they were doing before it was airing out,” she said. “The person just ransacked our place, stuff everywhere. It’s pretty crazy.”
