SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three people were injured after a stage collapsed at a warehouse party in Miramar New Year’s Eve.

Police were called to the warehouse on the 7500 block of Trade Street after receiving reports of the collapse around 10 p.m.

According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the balcony was illegally built and was carrying too much weight when it failed. No one was trapped, but the department says three people were taken to the hospital with injuries. All injuries were considered mild.

The party was held after San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria signed an executive order Wednesday calling for those violating public health orders to be held accountable.

“People who have been repeatedly contacted by public health and law enforcement, informed of their violations of the public health order and continue to persist," Gloria said.

"That kind of behavior is considered a public nuisance under the law; it can also be a form of unfair competition recognizing that the vast majority of businesses are complying with the public health code,” he added.
