CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A popular South Bay restaurant is expanding with a new location in Chula Vista.
Victor Lopez, owner of the El Pollo Grill restaurant in Bonita, told 10News that a bigger version of his eatery will become part of the Otay Ranch Town Center shopping mall later this year, likely in August.
Lopez said he had been in negotiations with mall officials for several months and recently closed a deal for his new restaurant. Lopez feels that the addition of El Pollo Grill and other tenants such as Planet Fitness and Novo Brazil will bring more success to the Chula Vista mall.

Lopez told 10News that his commitment to serving great food, locally brewed beer and helping the community will continue at the new EPG location.
“I will continue to work with the community and provide them any type of relief [and] be there when they’re in need of my help in any way, shape or form. I look forward to providing great food and a great atmosphere at Otay Ranch Town Center,” Lopez said.
According to Lopez, his El Pollo Grill restaurant will be located at the mall’s main entry off Eastlake Parkway, between Jersey Mike’s Subs and Panda Express. The space was occupied by the restaurant Tacos and Tarros, but it closed down in late 2018.

As for EPG’s famous “Spanos tacos,” Lopez said they will be available at the new location during football season.
