Man in Chula Vista crash found with bullet wound

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — A man is in critical condition after police found him in his vehicle suffering from a bullet wound early Saturday.

Chula Vista Police said officers were called to E Street at the southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp just before 2 a.m. to a report of a single-vehicle crash. The driver was found suffering from traumatic injuries.

Fire and paramedic crews needed to use special tools to extract the man from his vehicle, according to CVPD.

Police discovered that the man was suffering from a bullet wound and he was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, police said. The man was described as in his 20s.

The motive for the shooting is unclear.
