CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — Four employees at an illegal pot shop in the South Bay were arrested Friday for possession of marijuana and operating a dispensary without a license.
Friday's arrest saw all four people cited and released at the scene. A fifth person was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sale and taken to Chula Vista Jail.
Police added that the illegal pot shop at 3268 Main Street has generated a number of complaints from residents and was located less than a half mile from two elementary schools.
Police seized about $15,000 in cash and $3 to $4 million worth of cannabis-infused products. Methamphetamine was also seized from the location.
Chula Vista Police says shutting down illegal marijuana dispensaries in the area continue to be an issue. Dating back to 2019, CVPD says it has now closed 16 illegal marijuana dispensaries through either criminal enforcement or civil abatement efforts.
Currently, Chula Vista doesn't allow any marijuana dispensaries to operate within the city.
