SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A 56-year-old man was shot to death in front of a Spring Valley marijuana dispensary late Tuesday night, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
According to sheriff’s officials, deputies were dispatched to the 8700 block of Troy Street after reports of gunfire just after 11 p.m. outside of an illegal dispensary.
Deputies arrived to find a man down with a gunshot wound to his neck and not breathing.
Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but the victim -- reported to be a security guard at the business -- was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff’s Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting, as well as reports of 2-3 people seen running from the area following the gunfire.
Troy Street, between Central Avenue and Sweetwater Road, was blocked off Wednesday morning due to the investigation.
