SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Cal Trans closed down a section of southbound I-5 Thursday night.
The closer started at 9:30 p.m. from the I-805 split to La Jolla Village Drive.
The closure is expected to last until 5 a.m. Friday.
Crews shut down the section of freeway due to necessary work on the construction of a trolley overpass over the interstate. Teams needed to bring heavy equipment onto the freeway to pour concrete onto the structure.
Overnight and early morning commuters that take I-5 SB is being rerouted to I-805 SB and will need to use Highway 52 or I-8 to cut over.
Crews say they will need to do follow up work within on the overpass in the next few weeks, so drivers should expect the same closure again.
