SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – An 18-year-old man was killed in a shooting in Mira Mesa Wednesday morning, San Diego Police said.
An SDPD official told ABC 10News that a death was reported following a shooting in the 10900 block of Deering Street at around 9:30 a.m.
Officers responding to the scene found the 18-year-old Hispanic man down in the street in front of his home, a press release stated.
SDPD said he had at least one gunshot wound. Officers gave the man medical assistance until paramedics came to the scene and took over. The man was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.
SDPD has identified the victim; however, it is not releasing his name at this time.
Homicide detectives from SDPD were called to the scene to investigate.
"It is very early in the investigation and there is very little information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the motivation and any sort of interaction between the victim and suspect or suspects," the press release said. "Detectives are gathering evidence and interviewing any potential witnesses."
As of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, police did not have information about the suspect.
