SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A woman trying to cross Interstate 805 early Thursday morning was hit by a car and killed, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.
CHP officials said the fatal collision happened at around 4 a.m. on southbound I-805 near Market Street.
The woman “was attempting to cross the traffic lanes” of the freeway when an oncoming Toyota Corolla struck her, officials said.
The pedestrian, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear why the woman tried to cross the freeway lanes.
The Corolla’s driver stayed at the scene following the collision and cooperated with the investigation, the CHP said.
