SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are investigating after a body was found in Hillcrest on Wednesday night.

According to the department, officers were called to 8th Avenue and Robinson after someone called police to report found inside a home. Investigators say there was obvious trauma to the body, so the homicide unit was called out, but would not give details on that trauma.

The victim is described as a white male, about 60 years old. SDPD said the victim has been identified but is not yet releasing his name.

Police said the death is suspicious but had no suspect information.

In a briefing on Wednesday night, Lieutenant Jud Campbell with the homicide unit said they had no suspect information and had not yet figured out what happened.

"All I can tell you right now is we’re very early. we have a homicide team which is our highest trained most professional detectives here to figure out what happened so we can evaluate what happened and what we need to do from here," said Lieutenant Campbell.

Neighbors who witnessed the investigation described what they saw.

"It looked like a scene you’d see on a crime scene TV show basically," said neighbor Chase Graff, who walked over the following morning to see if he could get more information.

Thursday, police were not able to give any further updates, leaving neighbors like Graff wondering if there is a suspect on the loose.

"It would just be peace of mind for me to know a little more about what’s going on and hopefully they’ve got whoever is responsible for this," said Graff.

When asked about safety in the neighborhood, Lieutenant Campbell said he understands that incidents like this can be unsettling for the community, but can’t share details to protect the investigation, adding that their highest priority is keeping communities safe.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
