Sheriff's deputies search for gunman in north San Diego County shooting

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Deputies are searching for a man suspected in a shooting that injured a man in unincorporated Escondido Friday morning.

San Diego County sheriff’s officials said the incident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. in the 28000 block of Meadow Glen Way.

Details on what led to the gunfire were not immediately available, but officials confirmed a man was shot in the abdomen and was taken to the hospital.

The victim’s condition was unknown as of 12:40 p.m.

According to sheriff’s officials, the suspected shooter was described as white male wearing a blue T-shirt, in his 40s, with short gray hair and a thin build. The 5-foot-10-inch suspected gunman was last seen driving a silver Volkswagen SUV near Hidden Meadows Road.

Officials are advising the public to call 911 if they spot the vehicle or the “armed and dangerous” man.
