Jamul shooting suspect found dead after 16-hour standoff with deputies

The man who barricaded himself inside a Jamul home during a 16-hour standoff with a deputies and SWAT officers was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday morning, authorites said.


JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after one person was shot in Jamul Monday afternoon.

The Department reported the incident just before 2 p.m. on the 15000 block of Lyons Peak Road.

According to deputies, one victim was taken to a nearby hospital after the shooting. The victim reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body.

“Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail/SWAT is responding to the scene for a possible barricaded suspect,” the department said.

The department says it's currently trying to contact the suspect on the phone and over a PA system.
