San Diego County Sheriff's Department investigates deadly Ramona shooting

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a man in Ramona early Monday morning.

The incident was reported just after 12:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Main Street, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s officials said deputies and California Highway Patrol officers were called to the area and found a man with a gunshot injury.

Despite life-saving measures, the victim -- who was not immediately identified -- was declared dead at the scene.

Late Monday afternoon, sheriff's officials announced the arrest of 32-year-old Elias Ruiz in connection with the shooting. Ruiz, a Ramona resident, was booked into San Diego Cenral Jail on one count of murder.
