OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A California icon is closing two of its locations.

Ruby's Diner announced the closure of its Oceanside and Huntington Beach locations on Facebook Friday.

According to the company, the Oceanside location stood ready to feed hungry beachgoers for nearly 30 years.

“To the HB and Oceanside community, thank you so much for your unwavering support since we first opened our doors. It’s been such a pleasure to serve you over the years,” the company said.

Saddened fans took to social media following the announcement. "So sad to hear this! I’ve had so many great memories at Ruby’s in Oceanside," one commenter said on Facebook.

The company didn't give a reason for the closures, but according to the California Restaurant Association, thousands of restaurants throughout the state have closed permanently due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A survey conducted by the association in late 2020 noted that 30 percent of restaurants said they would either close permanently, or “downsize by closing some locations."
