Pedestrian struck, killed near I-5 offramp in Middletown area

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A pedestrian was struck and fatally injured by a vehicle this morning near an Interstate 5 offramp in the Middletown area, police said.

The collision was reported around 5 a.m. in the 2800 block of India Street near the offramp from northbound I-5, according to San Diego police, who said the driver remained at the scene.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, SDPD public-affairs Officer Billy Hernandez said.

Authorities shut down the offramp and northbound India Street from Laurel Street for the investigation. The offramp and all lanes were reopened by 8:40 a.m.
