SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police identified the woman found dead this week in an Ocean Beach garage.

Police say 59-year-old Heidi Green, of Los Angeles County, was found dead after a welfare check Wednesday. Officers were called to an apartment in the 5000 block of Niagara Avenue at about 4 a.m. after a man told police he had received a concerning message from his mother and not heard back.

The family believed she was checking on the OB property.

Police arrived and were unable to access the property and while police were on scene, the man who called police arrived and said he had seen his brother run from the area.

A SWAT unit was called in, leading to nearby evacuations, but the suspect, 36 year-old Daniel Chase McKibben, was not found.

McKibben, who is Green's son, was arrested the next day in La Mesa following an officer-involved shooting in the 7900 block of Rainey Street. Police said he was armed with a knife and possibly trespassing.

McKibben was still in custody at a local hosptial Saturday, police say.
