POWAY (CNS) - Two people were seriously injured Friday when their vehicle went off state Route 67 near Poway and plummeted about 300 feet down a canyon, authorities said.
The crash was reported shortly before 9 a.m. on state Route 67 near Scripps Poway Parkway, California Highway Patrol Tommy Strickland said. A caller told dispatchers that a vehicle went off the roadway and ended up about 300 feet down a canyon, Strickland said.
Paramedics responded to the scene and airlifted two people to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, Cal Fire San Diego spokesman Thomas Shoots said.
No details about the victims or their vehicle were immediately available.
Authorities shut down the right lane of SR-67 to retrieve the vehicle and investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
