SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man suspected of stealing a pickup truck in Serra Mesa led police on a chase through several neighborhoods before being arrested back where the crime was reported.
At around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, San Diego police responded to a call regarding a man seen breaking into a parked pickup truck and driving off in the vehicle.
Officers spotted the truck in the area and tried to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop.
The truck led officers on a pursuit through Linda Vista, Clairemont, Kearny Mesa, and Tierrasanta, before making its way back into Serra Mesa.
The truck came to a stop in the 9800 block of Aero Drive, and with the engine still running, the driver jumped out and ran away.
Because the truck was still in gear, it rolled backwards into an SDPD cruiser.
Officers chased the driver down and took him into custody.
