SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- A man was shot and killed in the front yard of an Oak Park home, and police Thursday put out a call for any witnesses to the crime.
The shooting was reported about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 3100 block of Collura Street, off Redwood Street west of 54th Street, San Diego police Lt. Matt Dobbs said.
Responding officers found the man in the front yard of a nearby residence with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body, Dobbs said. The victim, whose age and name were not immediately available, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"It is still very early in the investigation and little is known about the circumstances leading up to the man's death," the lieutenant said. "Neighbors heard a gunshot in the area and went outside to find the victim down in a front yard."
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call SDPD's homicide unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
