SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A Vista man was arrested on suspicion of breaking into an Encinitas home and stealing a resident’s Rolex watch, sheriff’s officials announced Thursday.

San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials said the break-in and watch theft happened Feb. 6 at around 11:07 a.m., at a home on Devonshire Drive.

According to officials, during the break-in, the suspected intruder had “a brief encounter with the resident” but managed to leave the house with the watch, which was valued at approximately $18,000.

Investigators were able to identify 41-year-old Vista resident Jason Carlock as the suspect in the break-in. Officials did not disclose what led them to identify Carlock as the suspect.

Officials said Carlock was arrested “near the U.S. Border for a parole violation and the burglary.” Carlock had the Rolex watch with him at the time of his arrest, officials stated.

Carlock was booked into San Diego Central Jail and is being held without bail due to his parole violation.
