SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Covered California announced Tuesday that it’s giving people extra time to finish their enrollment applications.
According to news release, consumers who begin their enrollment application before midnight on Tuesday, January 15, will have until January 18 to complete the process.
Californians who finish their applications by January 18 will have their healthcare coverage begin on February 1.
“Our top priority is making sure consumers who are trying to sign up for health insurance get the time and assistance they need,” said Covered California Executive Director Peter V. Lee. “Life can change in an instant, and no one should be turned away just because they get caught up in a wave of last-minute shoppers.”
After open enrollment ends, consumers can only sign up if they experience a life-changing event like losing health care coverage, getting married, having a child or moving.
