LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - A La Mesa woman sleeping in her bed woke up to find a burglar raiding her bedroom.

Just off Avocado Blvd. around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, Alyssa's mom was in her bed wearing her earplugs when something jolted her awake.

"They were going through the clothing drawers of her bedroom," said Alyssa.

She saw one, possibly two shadowy figures, in the dark room.

"She yelled, 'What's going on?' They said, 'Oh, S***,'" said Alyssa.

The intruder or intruders raced out of the room, and out the front door. Alyssa's shaken mother called 911 and then Alyssa. Turns out the entry point was an unlocked patio door.

Alyssa's room was ransacked.

"My bed was off the bed frame. All the clothes were out of my drawers," said Alyssa.

Amid the mess was some missing jewelry.

"30 pieces, close to $2,000 worth of jewelry. There were a few things from my grandma, which you can't put a price on of course," said Alyssa.

Also lost was a family's peace of mind.

"We just feel so vulnerable now," said Alyssa.

Alyssa says they're planning on extra security precautions after a nightmare come true.

"The concept of someone in your house while you're sleeping is startling and frightening. You don't know what they're going to do, what they have, what they're looking for," said Alyssa.
