SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Criminal defense attorney David Shapiro joined ABC 10News on set to discuss the implications of LA County District Attorney George Gascón's resentencing recommendation in the Menendez brothers' case.
ABC 10News anchor Kimberly Hunt asked Shapiro the following questions:
- The next step in this process is how the judge will handle the recommendation. Can you explain that process and give us an estimate on how long it could potentially take?
- What does the judge have to decide or consider exactly? Whether or not if the abuse happened, if they're a danger to society, or are they comparing it to other cases? What boxes do they have to check?
- Although it was a good day for the defense team, they're calling for the '96 conviction to be reversed because sexual assault testimony was improperly kept from the jury. Is that a bridge too far?
