SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A gas line broke at a construction site next to the Town & Country Hotel in Mission Valley Thursday, forcing the closure of several nearby roads.
The natural gas leak was reported shortly after 8 a.m. in the 500 block of Hotel Circle North, just off Interstate 8, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue officials.
Officials said a 2-inch line ruptured on a construction site, and the response to the leak forced road closures in the area.
During the repair work, San Diego police shut down traffic in both directions on Fashion Valley Road at Riverwalk Drive; Hotel Circle North at the westbound I-8 onramp; Camino De La Reina at Avenida Del Rio; and Hotel Circle South at the southbound SR-163 onramp.
Just before 9:30 a.m., crews were able to turn off the gas. All affected roads were reopened shortly thereafter.
No injuries have been reported.
