EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) — Two people have been arrested after several leads from the El Cajon community led deputies to a stolen iron horse in Arizona.
The metal sculpture depicting a horse was taken from Double S Tack and Feed in El Cajon on Oct. 2, but wasn't reported until 10 days later, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.
Leads from several community members and businesses were "instrumental" in the investigation by providing surveillance footage, SDSO added.
Investigators were eventually led to Arizona, where they say the stolen 300-pound sculpture was taken to a home in Golden Valley, Ariz.
Percy Hill, 56, of Golden Valley, Ariz., and Rick Freeman, 62, of Lakeside, were both arrested for theft and booked into detention facilities in their respective areas, SDSO said.
Rita Gallant, who owns the business, told 10News she purchased the horse about 15 years ago and that it has become something of a neighborhood icon.
She's now coordinating with Arizona Law Enforcement to recover the iron horse.
