SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Santee Sheriff's Department has canceled the search for a man who has reportedly been trying to lure children into his vehicle.

In an initial report sent to ABC 10News Saturday evening, the children were playing outside of a home around 4:27 p.m. on Stoney Creek Court when a man approached them in the van saying he was giving away free books and told them to go inside the back of the van and grab them.
However, sheriff's deputies said after an investigation no crime was committed and some misunderstanding was involved.
