RAMONA (CNS) - At least two people died Sunday when their vehicle went off an embankment in Ramona.
The crash happened near the intersection of San Vicente and Wildcat Canyon roads just after 5 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Deputies say a white Chevrolet Camaro was heading eastbound on San Vicente Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control.
The Camaro struck several trees and caught fire. The driver and the passenger, yet to be identified, died at the scene.
The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
It's unclear if either occupant was wearing a seat belt or if drugs and or alcohol played a role in the crash.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
