SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Two people were taken to the hospital after a collision on an Egger Highlands street involving three vehicles, including a San Diego police cruiser.

The crash happened at around 3:15 a.m. in the 1700 block of Palm Avenue, police said.

The driver of a red SUV said a police car pulled in front of him and he was unable to avoid the cruiser. After colliding with the SDPD cruiser, the SUV spun and came to rest in the middle of the street.

However, as the driver opened his door, an oncoming car crashed into the disabled SUV.

The SUV’s driver and the driver of the other car were taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

Two officers inside the cruiser were not hurt.
